I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun putting a menu together; basically, asking myself the question, “What would I like to eat quickly, after work that would be fun, easy, affordable and would accompany my favorite drink?” The answers are listed above. In further conversations with myself, I asked me, when would I offer such a menu? My response arose with such frightening speed that I looked around furtively to see who said, “Between the hours of 4 and 6PM, Monday thru Friday.”, oracle-like. (Forgot who I was talking to.)
Free the worker I say! Make after work feel like happy hour; like not work, not home – a third place. This menu is just plain fun!
Two Things Especially Excite Me About It:
- Irish Nachos, because you don’t know what they are, and I do.
- Candied Bacon, because it’s in all the magazines, has been for years and I’ve always thought it would be cool to do, but figured I would never get around to it and here we are, doing it.
-with Big Fat Soft & Warm Pretzel and Beer Cheese as an honorable mention. We started these pretzels at the Brew Barn. They are supposed to be a taproom thing. It turns out they actually are a taproom thing; hot stuff at the Brew Barn. So, Ale House gets them too.
But the best thing about this is that it’s happy hour again. A joy-bump in the day.
What you will see, arriving to the pub, will be the pretzel warmer blazing warm light for the big fat soft warm pretzels. You will see the menus on the pub tables and the bar. That’s your signal. Game on. Have a look!
